POKOTABI / Puchi Powā
プチポワ
Located in Nagaokakyo, Kyoto Prefecture, Puchi Powā serves carefully prepared yoshoku in a calm setting, from hearty fried prawns and braised pork belly with Japanese-style balsamic sauce to a broad selection of pasta and pumpkin pudding.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
Set along the quiet streets of Nagaokakyo, Puchi Powā offers approachable Japanese-style Western cuisine alongside an extensive pasta lineup. Main dishes available across lunch and dinner showcase time-honored yoshoku comforts, from combinations of substantial fried prawns and hamburger steak to flavorful Iberico pork and potato croquettes. Meat dishes are similarly well considered: tender simmered pork belly is sautéed after excess fat is rendered away and served with a lingering Japanese-style balsamic sauce, while more involved preparations include duck confit slow-cooked in duck fat and sautéed chicken with lemon butter sauce.
The pasta selection spans a wide range of tastes, covering tomato sauces with eggplant and mozzarella, classic carbonara, oil-based preparations with scallop or mushrooms, and pollack roe variations. Seasonal offerings sometimes feature local produce such as Kamo eggplant and Manganji peppers. Set options that add salads, drinks, and desserts make it straightforward to tailor a satisfying, full meal.
Rounding off the meal with simple, gently sweet pumpkin pudding or rare cheesecake alongside coffee or tea is well worth considering. With counter seating available in addition to tables, the dining room accommodates solo guests as comfortably as small groups. Allowing plenty of time makes for an unhurried, enjoyable visit.
